Day Three - Golden Circle Tour

So what is the Golden Circle?
What I would say is that it is a day filled with seeing the beautiful geography of Iceland, including the Gullfoss Waterfall, the Thingvellir Valley and the Geysir hot spring area. The beauty of the landscape was aided by the fact that the sun came out on this Monday. We also got to enjoy an impromptu stop to pet and feed some Icelandic horses, which is always a plus in our house. The day ended with a tour of the Thingvellir Valley, a place of historical and cultural significance. It lies along the border of the North American and Eurasian plates, and it is where the Icelandic leaders met annual to run their loose government. |
