Cinque Terre is a string of centuries-old seaside villages on the rugged coastline of the Italian Riviera. Each of the five towns has colorful houses clinging to the steep terraces along the coast. We visited each by boat, which is much faster than traversing the seaside landscape.

Heeding the advice of our travel agent, we visited Pisa on our drive back to Florence from Cinque Terre. It is a beautiful, fascinating site that warrants no more time than what we spent viewing it.
