Day 3 - Versailles
Versailles was the center of political power in France from 1682 until the beginning of the French Revolution in 1789. If you need an example of why the citizens of France revolted against the monarchy, Versailles is a pretty good example!
The grounds consist of the main Palace, with its Marble Court, Hall of Mirrors, and the State Apartments, along with several gardens, retreats, and water features. It is breathtaking to excess, which is why it had to come to an end, of course. The day ended with a wonderful dinner at the home of Fleur's parents, along with the twins, and I need to be more specific than this. |
