Day 5 - Tivoli Gardens and Duomo Orvieto
October 14th, 2017
We packed our bags, loaded the bus and bid Rome arrivederci! We traveled to Tivoli to take a tour of Villa d'Este, also known as the Tivoli Gardens. Originally a convent, the villa was requisitioned by Vatican Cardinals to serve as their summer retreat and it became one of the most beautiful residences of the Renaissance. After touring the gardens and their countless fountains, we spent some time touring the streets of Tivoli before boarding the bus for Orvieto, on the boarder the Tuscany and Latium, where we would stay for the remainder of our trip. We visited the Cathedral - or Duomo - when we arrived and we dined that evening as a group. |
