On Easter Sunday evening we were about to enjoy a glass of wine and beautiful early April weather on our deck. That was until we realized the deck was in use by Bette, a great horned owlet. Our neighborhood has enjoyed watching a nesting pair of great horned owls look after a pair of owlets high up in an old maple tree. We wondered how long the little ones would remain in the nest. We found out that evening....literally!

She might be a "little" owl, but her talons looked ready for business.
This is how a baby owl lets you know it is REALLY TIRED of you taking photos!

As Bette got agitated I heard a "hoot" above me. Mom (or Dad) had been keeping watch of the owlet and had decided it was time to let me know it was time for me to be done.
