Day 6 - Bruges, Belgium
"You should try to visit Bruges."
When you are given that advice by a Frenchman who knows you have just spent the day touring the grounds at Versailles, your curiosity is piqued. Fleur's father, Patrice, made that suggestion as he drove us home following our dinner with their family. "Bruges is really beautiful; you should go." We learned that Bruges is beautiful. Located 50 miles north of Lille, this little town was once part of an important Dutch trade route, linked to the sea by a man-made canal. Today it is a beautiful tourist spot that we had a great time exploring. Oh, and we took the train there. Ask one of us sometime about how THAT went! |
