Day 4 - Sea of Galilee, Capernaum, Beatitudes, Tabgha

Much of Jesus's early ministry happen around and on the Sea of Galilee, and our fourth day was spent visiting several sites. Fed by the river Jordan, it is actually a lake, but everything is relative when you are in the desert!
The day began with a boat trip on the Sea of Galilee itself. This is where Jesus called Peter, Andrew, James and John to be his first disciples and he told them he would make them "fishers of men." After the boat ride we had Mass on the shore in a beautiful, secluded spot. Throughout the day we visited Capernaum, "The Town of Jesus," to see the site of St. Peter's House, then on to Mt. Beatitudes, where the Sermon on the Mount was given, to Tabgha to see the mosaic of the Loaves and Fishes, then on to the Church of Peter's Primacy where Peter was told "Feed my lambs. Feed my sheep." |
