Day Four - Krems, Austria
Our fourth day on ship was a busy one. We began with a scenic sail through the Wachau Valley. This is another beautiful stretch of the Danube that was, unfortunately, also VERY foggy.
After arriving in Krems we set off for Gottweig Abbey, a breath-taking 900-year-old Benedictine abbey that, once again, was obscured in fog. Despite the weather, the scenes were beautiful in the abbey and on the grounds. Our day ended with a tour of the Morwald Weinbau & Brennerei winery. Operated by Erhard Morwald, this winery current provides the table wine for the Viking longships on the Danube. Erhard hosted himself; he clearly LOVES his work. Despite the fog, this was a full, fun day. |
