Day 7 - Assisi & Antonelli Winery
October 16th, 2017
We spent this Monday traveling to Assisi, the town of Saint Francis built on the slopes of Mount Subasio. Saint Francis and Saint Claire were both born in Assisi. Francis founded the Franciscan order, and Saint Clare founded the Order of the Poor Sisters, known now as the Order of the Poor Clares. Assisi is beautiful and it is old. How old? Put it this way: the lower parts of the city are considered the "new" area because they were developed after the 1200s! After our day there we stopped in the village of Montefalco to tour the Antonelli winery. The wine and scenery were wonderful . We highly recommend both! |
